Titans Draft Picks

The Tennessee Titans went into the draft needing a Guard, Defensive End, Wide receiver, and Safety. Last year their offensive line got blown out. So for that being, the titans went into the draft with the offensive line as their focus for the most part.

In the first round of the draft the titans went with Chance Warmock he is an offensive Guard from Alabama. In the second round they went with Justin Hunter a wide receiver from Tennessee. In the third round they went with Blidi Wreh-Wilson a CB from Connecticut. These were there most effective picks i believe these three players will help and make a difference to the squad. With having Warmock teamed up with Holdover, should give Jack Locker some time to survey the field and also open up holes for Chris Johnson.

In this years draft i believe that the Titans overall did very well with their picks. Although they didn’t add on a pass rusher. Either way they did pick up some speed on in their line back postition with adding on Zaviar Gooden from Missouri.

The Titans are coming off of a 6-10 season filled with inconsistency. The unpredictable Titans were lead by Chris Johnson who rushed for a meager 45 yards in the first three games before ripping off a 561 yard four game stretch in the middle of the season. Chris Johnson is explosive and Jake Locker has potential, but the offensive line must find consistency before the Titans can improve. Adding guard Andy Levitre is a great first step to rebuilding the offensive line and don’t be surprised if the Titans continue to retool their line through the draft.

Betting tips on the winners of the NFL American League

The American League (or AFC) is one of the two leagues which make up the National Football League (NFL), with six teams from each league going into the post season play-offs to determine which two sides will compete in the Super Bowl. Betting on the winners of the AFC is popular amongst NFL betting fans as the league features a number of the top NFL sides, including the New England Patriots, The Denver Broncos, and the current Super Bowl holders the Baltimore Ravens – but which teams are a good bet to win it this season?

Well, it depends on whether you want to bet on one of the hot favorites, or if you want to take a bit more of a long-odds risk. The Patriots, the Broncos and the Houston Texans are the hottest favorites, and you can get odds as low as 3 and 4/1 on them at betting sites. However a bet such as this will not win you much money, even though there is a good chance that it will be successful, and you will need to risk a bet on a team with slightly longer odds if you want it to really pay out. Last season’s Super Bowl winners the Ravens will attract a fair amount of betting, with odds of 8/1, especially given how potent they proved to be last season – when their odds were far steeper.

There are other teams with similar odds, such as Pittsburgh Steelers, who could be a strong bet for the AFC, but you may prefer to get a fix of the NFL and betting by playing the $5 Million Touchdown game at an online casino instead, try iPadcasino.com.au for size. This slots game features reel icon pictures of footballs, players, whistles and cheerleaders, and the screen background is a football pitch. Beyond this the bonus game replicates an NFL game, requiring you to build bonus credits by passing the ball until you score a touchdown, while you still get great slots features like a cash jackpot as well. It is a fine option both for NFL and casino fans to explore.

Johnson Improves

Chris Johnson had his best game of the season, as he almost got 100 yards rushing in a close game. He had over 100 yards rushing against Houston, but many came after the game was already decided.

8-8

The Titans were 9-7 last year and will go 8-8 this year. Chris Johnson would be their only hope to prove this wrong.

2011 Tennessee Titans Preview

An awkward situation for the Tennessee finally resolved itself after the 2010 season with an interesting twist. Head coach Jeff Fisher, the longest tenured coach in the league, and quarterback Vince Young were at odds with owner Bud Adams seemingly on Young’s side. When it was announced that Fisher was not returning in 2011 it was believed that Young had finally won out. Six months later, Young also found himself being shown the door and was cut. This season should be a very interesting one in Nashville with a lot of new faces.

Although Jake Locker was drafted in the first round to be the franchise’s quarterback of the future, he will not be thrown into the fire immediately. Taking over the vacated quarterback spot will be former Seahawk Matt Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck struggled the last couple of years with injuries and poor play. The help of one of most electric running backs in the game might help him out. With Chris Johnson able to break a touchdown run off from anywhere on the field, defenses won’t be able to hone in on stopping the quarterback. Hasselbeck enjoyed some of his most successful seasons on a run-first team in Seattle with Shaun Alexander. Receiver Kenny Britt has had his share of troubles off of the field, particularly during the lockout when he was arrested several times. His poor behavior led to a meeting with Commissioner Roger Goodell although no suspension was handled down. With that being said, Britt is loaded with potential and could be in store for his best year yet with the veteran QB feeding him the ball. Nate Washington will also start at wide out, but is decent at best. The team is high on second year receiver Damian Williams and hopes he is ready sooner than later to make an impact on the field. Tight end Jared Cook is also in his second year and could be a huge receiving threat as Hasselbeck loves to utilize his tight end in the passing game. The main issue on offense for the Titans will be their line play. To help in that area, former iron man and franchise hero Bruce Matthews was made offensive line coach.

The Titans defense under the watch of Jeff Fisher was extremely physical from front to back. Fisher especially left his mark in the secondary, where he played himself, with Cortland Finnegan, Michael Griffin, and Chris Hope dishing out hits week in and week out to opposing teams. Jason McCourty is the final remaining starter in the secondary. He is not as physical as the other 3 and struggles due to a lack of ball skills despite being a good athlete. The linebackers in Tennessee have the potential to be good, but there are question marks. Rookie Akeem Ayers has no experience and limited range on the strong side. Weakside backer Will Weatherspoon has been a bit of a journey man the past couple of years and is undersized at the position. Middle linebacker Barrett Ruud comes over from Tampa Bay where he had started 95 out of 96 possible games the past 6 years. He was solid during his time with the Bucaneers so it is puzzling why they chose to not re-sign him with boatloads of cash available. There are even bigger questions on the defensive line. The line is filled with inexperienced starters Jacob Ford, who has the potential to be a very good pass rusher, rookie Karl Klug, William Hayes, and Shaun Smith. The Titans lost defensive line coach Jim Washburn, arguably the league’s best, to the Eagles. Washburn was responsible for instilling the edge the Titans linemen consistently played with. Keeping that edge could be the difference in having a good and bad season for the team.

The results for the 2011 Tennessee season will be determined by the battles in the trenches. Can the offensive line open up holes for Chris Johnson and protect Hasselbeck? Can the defense line continue their ways of penetrating and wreaking havoc in the backfield without Washburn in charge? Expect mediocre results on both sides that will hinder the team throughout the season. Despite a possible absence from Peyton Manning and the underwhelming Texans on the schedule twice, the Titans will not be able to compete for a division title.

Tennessee Bwoys

How good were the Titans last year? That is, after they finally decided to dump that geezer in Kerry Collins, who almost single handedly was responsible for that abysmal 0-6 start. I think the only reason Coach Jeff Fisher stuck with him so long was because he overachieved the year before that, where they went 13-3.

This year Vince Young is the clearcut starter at quarterback. Chris Johnson is back to give it a go for consecutive 2,000 yard rushing seasons. Let’s just hope he stays healthy, as LenDale White is no longer there as a legitimate backup. A young receiving core could spell trouble for this squad as well. The Titans don’t really have a viable number one target at receiver. That could be their downfall this year. Kenny Britt and Nate Washington do have their moments, but they are few.

The Titans had the second to worst pass defense last year. It’s hard to see anything changing this season. There aren’t many standouts on that side of the ball. The fact that rumors have been swirling that they are interested in reacquiring Albert Haynesworth spells doom.

This team overachieved last year. This year, I think they can and will be in the conversation for the playoffs with a 10-6 record. A lot can go wrong though.

Johnson unanimous for All-Pro

Chris Johnson didn’t get any votes for MVP. He didn’t miss any for The Associated Press 2009 NFL All-Pro team.

The 2,000-yard rusher from the Tennessee Titans was the only unanimous choice for the squad, which was announced Thursday. He’s joined in the backfield by Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who won an unprecedented fourth Most Valuable Player Award last week, when only quarterbacks received votes.

“That’d be a good thing,” said Johnson, who won the Offensive Player of the Year award Wednesday. “Because I feel like if you put a season out there, out of those dudes who got votes or the dudes who won, I wouldn’t feel they had a better season than I had, and broke as many records in one season that I had.”

Young Is AFC’s Offensive Player Of The Week

Titans quarterback Vince Young on Tuesday was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his gutsy performance against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday at LP Field.

Young threw for a career-high 387 yards in the Titans’ 20-17 come-from-behind victory – a comeback that was completed on the last play of the game after a long drive.

Starting on their own one-yard line with 2:37 remaining in the game, Young led the Titans on an 18-play, 99-yard drive and completed the go-ahead 10-yard touchdown to rookie wide receiver Kenny Britt as time expired.

The Titans offense converted three fourth downs during the final drive en route to their fifth consecutive victory (which follows six straight losses to open the season).

Young completed a career-high 27 passes on 43 attempts, including three passes over 25 yards and a long of 51 yards.
