The Raiders went with drafting D.J. Hayden out of Houston. Hayden ended the season last year with a pretty bad injury that might have been life threatening. Hopefully Hayden plays to his full potential and becomes there number 1 corner back. In the second round Oakland decided to go with Menelik Watson, an outside tackle out of Miami. The raiders fourth round pick out of Arkansas happens to be Tyler Wilson, a quarterback that can come to some use for the Raiders.
Where i thought the Raiders didnt do so well in the draft is in drafting defensive lineman. They waited until the sixth round to pick a DL. The raiders could use a little helpfor the ends and the tackles. Their veteran players are gonna need some breaks. The raiders overall did pretty well in drafting. knowing that they need quite amount help. But in the end they ended up addding talent and depth to their team
With the third pick in the 2013 Draft the Oakland Raiders select….

The good news for the Raiders: they might have the first pick in next year’s draft. The bad news for the Raiders: that means they will be in contention for the worst record in the NFL this season. Coming off a 4-12 season, the Raiders loss Darrius Heyward-Bey, Michael Huff, Tommy Kelly, Philip Wheeler, Desmond Bryant and Richard Seymour. They also swapped quarterback Carson Palmer with Matt Flynn, which may very well result in a downgrade. The Raiders only hope is that Darren McFadden stays healthy and has a monster season. Don’t count on the Raiders having any success this season as they have a long road back towards playoff contention.
The Raiders make no sense this year. They got obliterated by the Dolphins, beat the Steelers, and lost to the Falcons at the last second. Will sanity ever return to Oakland?
The Raiders were 8-8 last year and will go 9-7 this year. Will they FINALLY make the playoffs?
The Raiders have been a lacking stock of the NFL for quite some time now. Whether it is drafting the fastest players, or letting their better players go, the Raiders always seem to mess up. And this off-season, they have let both Nnamdi Asomugha and Zach Miller go. That is two of the best players on the team. When will this team get better? When will they not draft on speed? Your guess is as good as mine.
Here’s some fun facts pertaining to how bad the Raiders were last year, particularly on offense: they were second to last in total yards and points per game. JeMarcus Russell, Bruce Gradkowski, and Charlie Frye combined to throw for a measly 10 total touchdowns. Justin Fargas, Darren McFadden, and Michael Bush had a total of seven rushing touchdowns, tallying a total of 17 offensive touchdowns. Drew Brees had 34 passing touchdowns alone.
This pattern of suckiness is the norm for the Raiders these days. Jason Campbell will take the reigns now, but he injured himself in pre-season action. Zach Miller is the number one passing threat at tight end. Their number one receiver is Darrius Heyward-Bey. Their best defensive player is Nnamdi Asomuwhatnow?
The Raiders’ reign of dreadfulness will continue this year. Long suffering Raiders fans will still be dreaming of better days where the hot dog eating, “he put some mustard on that one” John Madden led their team to glory. There’s just not much to get excited about here folks. It was really tough. Believe me, I tried. They will finish last in the AFC West at 2-14.

The Oakland Raiders released former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell on Thursday, ending a three-year tenure marked by his high salary and unproductive play on the field.
Senior executive John Herrera told The Associated Press about the move and said that “we wish him well.”
The decision came less than two weeks after Oakland acquired Jason Campbell from Washington to take over at quarterback and signifies that owner Al Davis finally lost patience with the immensely talented but unproductive player he drafted first overall in 2007 against the wishes of former coach Lane Kiffin.
Russell will now likely be considered one of the biggest draft busts in NFL history, joining Ryan Leaf, Ki-Jana Carter, Akili Smith and others on that list. He will have been paid more than $39 million by the Raiders, while producing only seven wins as a starter.

The plight of the Raiders was discussed in a recent conversation with one of the team’s former stars. Slinging theories is popular among the distinguished alumni, nearly all of whom have one.
But I’d never heard anyone express his so bluntly.
“I hate to say it, because the old man is a legend,” the former player said. “But I think we’re going to be like this as long as he’s around to run things. And I really don’t see him giving that up.”
The conventional thinking is that Al Davis never will sell the Raiders, for they are his life’s passion. That’s the feeling among ex-players, former employees and the broad variety of people who make up the fan base.
Indeed, thousands of fans came together to raise enough cash for a billboard advertisement that went up Tuesday, visible from northbound I-880 above High Street, about a mile south of the Oakland Coliseum. It depicts a Lombardi Trophy — and a plea for the 80-year-old owner and general manager to hire an actual GM.
